Welcome to a grounding and creative experience at UDUMBARA Studio in Kallio! In this hands-on pottery wheel workshop, you’ll work with authentic Finnish wild clay—Kultela clay—sourced locally and used as-is, without industrial processing.

The workshop is guided in English, and no prior pottery experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity, courage, and open hands. Eva can also guide you in Finnish and Swedish, if needed.

What to Expect

You’ll learn the basics of wheel-thrown pottery while experiencing the mindful, meditative rhythm of working with natural clay. The goal is to create one or two simple planter pots—perfect for herbs, succulents, or your favorite houseplants.

We begin with a demonstration by Eva Spoof, a professional ceramicist and designer, and the founder of UDUMBARA (est. 1994), followed by guided hands-on practice at the wheel.

About the Clay

Kultela clay is a native Finnish material—earthy, rich, and full of character. By working with it, you support local, ethical, and sustainable ceramic practices.

At UDUMBARA, we follow a slow design philosophy. Our kiln is fired only a few times each season using solar-powered energy, making your creations part of a truly ecological process.

When your pots are ready, we’ll notify you by email. You’re welcome to pick them up from the studio, or we can ship them to you for an additional fee. In that case, we’ll send you a separate invoice for the shipping costs.
